My Last Teaspoon of Honey ~ Released ~ 19th November 2024
|
|
My Last Teaspoon of Honey explores themes of regret, longing, and hope for renewal.
The lyrics express a desire to make amends for past mistakes and to share meaningful gestures, like giving the last teaspoon of honey or money, symbolizing deep care and sacrifice.
The repeated refrain emphasizes the idea that despite past struggles, there’s always the potential for a fresh start—“Tomorrow is a brand new day.” Reviews
Jane Laws musical style keeps evolving, we were first attracted by Purple Poodle as a wry colourful urban city observation, then Fremantle Bound gave us a modern Aussie sea shanty drawing on Jane’s love of sailing.
The pensive ambiance conjured by the melodic vocal on this record is evocative, and the gentle pianoforte turns the performance more emotional,
I like the emotional and soothing energy of your record, the piano creates a nice atmosphere and kind of a fairy tale vibe. The vocal lyrics catch me too. |

Fremantle Harbour Bound

Read more about my songwriting journey with Fremantle Harbour Bound here. |
Fremantle Harbour Bound is one of my maritime folk songs, it is a story about being at sea, for a very long time, and finally sailing towards home.
My friend and renowned improvising fiddle player, Erik Kowarski, joined me for the journey of recording Fremantle Harbour Bound.
I hope I have captured the great distances and the longing and desperation to be home after sailing the world's oceans for many a mile and many a year. Reviews
This is a soulful song of the sea from Jane Laws, and she really captures that special longing and anticipation, that is born in a person when heading homeward, after a long period on the bosom of the billowing ocean.
Jane Laws has nailed the joy and relaxation she gets as a recreational sailor and melded it with a reimagining from the point of view of a crusty tall ship seafarer heading under a full set of sails toward the Port of Fremantle.
The song sounds good with soothing melody and meaningful lyrics.
I love the strings in this track. It has a very earthy feel.
This is a really beautiful melody with wonderfully nostalgic lyrics (it reminds me of O Waly Waly).
Lovely vocals, guitar and fiddle.
